Camp NaNoWriMo 2014 approaches!
This has been a rough year for writing so far -- "rough" as in "not happening."
Actually, if I am honest with myself, this has been going on for longer than just these last few months -- I actually worked on something other than my Ruby Ransome series during NaNoWriMo 2013, because I had lost my motivation while working on revisions. I was intending to make my NaNo novel more of a novella, finish it during November, and go back to work on revising my first Ruby Ransome novel.
What actually happened was very different.
I almost didn't "win" NaNo, for starters. In order to get to 50,000 words, I wrote 10k on November 30th. Unfortunately, that burnt me out, so I allowed myself to take a break.
As often happens with breaks, I once I allowed that momentum to stop, I couldn't get it started again. I wanted to finish the novel before returning to Ruby Ransome, but as of yet I haven't managed to get back to work on any of it.
I have two things coming up that should motive me, however: a writing critique group in a week and a half (I'd like to get a chapter of Ruby Ransome ready for that), and of course, Camp NaNoWriMo coming up in April!
Just like last year, we have the ability to set our own word count goals. I plan to use that custom goal to finish my November novel -- and the three weeks or so until then will be spent revising the chapter to be critiqued, and finishing timelines for both my November novel and the RR series.
With any luck, I will be able to use Camp NaNoWriMo to get back on track!
