Today is the last day of the April session of Camp NaNoWriMo, and even having revised my word count goal, I'm behind. I need to do the equivalent of 3,000 words by the end of the day (since I'm doing revisions and outlining, that's not a precise science) in order to "win." Since I don't have an actual manuscript with which to validate, I'll use a lorem ipsum generator to create a block of text the correct length for validation. (I did this last summer too, when I worked on revisions instead of actual writing.)

Revised word count goal
Before April began, I set my Camp NaNoWriMo goal at 30k words, which I felt at the time might be a little overly ambitious -- but decided to try it anyway. I really wanted to finish this novel in April so I could get back to work on Ruby Ransome -- that was the main reason why I wanted to push myself so hard.
Unfortunately, then April happened.

Happy Easter!
We don't really have any plans for today, so I'm making full use of the day off as a writing day (and maybe a riding day, too, if I can tear myself away -- it's sunny and gorgeous outside!). Entire days to write are precious, as any writer who is juggling other work and responsibilities knows.
Speaking of the Easter holiday, though, I have a debate for your consideration...

Weekend catch-up
I never did get going on my novel again after my tax return marathon Monday night and Tuesday morning. Although I was (surprisingly) not very tired on Tuesday after my three-hour nap late that morning, I was quite tired both Wednesday and Thursday. It wasn't until Friday that I finally started feeling like myself, and I was too busy that day to work on my novel for Camp NaNoWriMo.
So I am hoping to do some catch-up work tonight and tomorrow. We aren't really doing anything for Easter (although I might visit my horses and ride), so that will hopefully leave plenty of time for writing!

Back to work on my Camp NaNoWriMo novel!
I got stalled on my novel revisions and timeline a little over a week ago -- I got really busy, and then had taxes to do. The last few years, I've been getting progressively worse about keeping up on my bookkeeping throughout the year, and in 2003 I kept up on it not at all. That meant catching up on the entire year's worth of payments and receipts all at once. Even though I did some of it here and there throughout the week leading up to Tax Day, I was still up all night Monday night in order to finish my bookkeeping and do our tax returns.

Camp NaNoWriMo update: Revising and outlining
April is shaping up to be a fairly nontraditional NaNoWriMo for me, which is fine because it is Camp NaNoWriMo, after all.
Of the first five days of April, I worked on my novel for four, putting several hours of work into it each time. I haven't actually written new material and tracked work count in typical NaNo style, though. Instead, I've given myself 1,000 "words" every day I've worked on the novel. If I'd spent as long writing as I did working on outlining, revising, and researching, I'd probably have far more than 4k on my word count right now, so I consider this fair.

Camp NaNoWriMo ahoy!
Yesterday was the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo. My wrimo friends and I got together in the evening for a mini camp kickoff, and I ended up getting roughly four hours of work in. I didn't do any writing, though -- I spent all my time working on my novel's timeline in Aeon, the software that I bought after NaNo ended last year (I got a 40 percent off code in the winner goodies).
